An 18 carat gold openface keyless split second chronograph pocketwatchSigned Dent, Watchmaker to the Queen, 33 Cockspur Street, London, no. 29371, mid 19th CenturyThe frosted gilt three-quarter plate movement with engraved cock, ruby endstone, bimetallic balance, flat blued steel hairspring with double overcoils, jewelled to the centre with screwed chatons, Nicole's keyless winding and Nicole Nielson's chronograph system, under glazed cuvette, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer seconds ring calibrated in fifths of a second, blued steel spade hands, two sweep centre seconds operated by the crown and a button in the band, in later plain gold case, casemaker's mark MRM for Martin Matthews, movement and dial signed and numbered52 mm. diam.
