Arnold, London, no. 14, first half 19th Century The frosted gilt chain fusee movement with engraved cock, diamond endstone, flat blued steel hairspring with endcurves and clamp extended to the side, two-armed bimetallic balance with poising screws, unusual Earnshaw chronometer escapement with spring detent with jewelled locking stone, escape wheel jewelled with screwed chatons, the white enamel dial with eccentric Roman chapters, outer seconds ring with half second marks, sweep centre seconds, in silver engine-turned case, with reeded band, casemaker's mark JW for John Williams, 56 Great Sutton Street, London EC1, in two-tier wooden observation box, dial inscribed, movement inscribed and numbered72 mm. diam.
